Located in Lancaster, PA, The Strasburg Railroad is a small, operating steam railway and museum. They are located just a few miles south of Route 30. www.strasburgrailroad.com. When in the Lancaster area, check out these other places to visit:
The ChooChoo Barn - A larger than average small town train store. Exclusively American. They carry the complete line of Roundhouse models of the Strasburg Railroad cars. They have not been able to find any models of the locomotive prototype.
The Toy Train Museum - One of the best Toy Train Museums I have seen. I was laughing when I saw my BR 89 and Bordeaux Wine barrel cars on display. Then I cried, "I must be old". They even have the Maerklin Metall ferris wheel, driven by another BR 89.
Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania - This facility houses literally hundreds of reburbished locomotives and will take several hours just to walk through, let alone examine individual locomotives or cars.
The Red Caboose Motel - This is located right next to Toy Train Museum and is worth a walk-around. The food is awful! :shutter:
George Kuhn's Shop - A wonderful shop and the headquarters of the Keystone Chapter of the ETE.
Bill Ott's Shop - A bit out of the way, but Bill keeps an extensive inventory of newer, older and used items.
Nighttime Ghost Tour - Take a night time tour through downtown Strasburg.
Ghost Sigtings - More ghosts!
